The rate of poverty in Nigeria is becoming alarming. In recent times a lot of people find it difficult to clothe themselves with the right clothes and even their wives and children. We hope to provide them with the appropriate clothes for the harmattan season. Our aim is to collect and gather used clothes not needed by their previous owners and make them available for those who might need them
Justification
According to the National Bureau of Statistics in a report released in 2019, 40% of Nigeria’s population is in poverty. That’s about 82.9million of our population living on 361 dollars for a whole year which is around N137,430 per year, which translates to N376.5 per day. Imagine someone living on N376.5 per day barely feeding him for the day, not to talk of feeding his wife and children or clothing them or providing the basics they need. While SEF has been trying to help feed the poor/needy especially during the holy month of Ramadan in the last 2years we hope to check another problem on their list which is to clothe them.
Goals
- To make awareness for the project
- To collect and gather used/unused clothes
- To mend/repair damaged clothes
- To sort and select the good ones
- To clean and prepare the clothes for distribution
- To distribute the cloth to the most needy of it
